โก Physics: Forces and Motion
What is a Force?
A force is a push or pull on an object. Forces can make objects:
- Start moving
- Stop moving
- Change direction
- Change shape
๐ Real-Life Example
When you kick a soccer ball, you apply a force that makes it move. The harder you kick (more force), the faster it goes!
Newton's Three Laws of Motion
Law of Inertia
An object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion, unless acted upon by a force.
๐ฑ Example: A book on a table won't move unless you push it. And once pushed, it would keep sliding forever if there was no friction!
Force = Mass ร Acceleration
The acceleration of an object depends on the force applied and the object's mass.
๐ Example: Pushing an empty shopping cart is easier than pushing a full one because it has less mass!
Action and Reaction
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
๐ Example: A rocket pushes hot gas downward, and the gas pushes the rocket upward!
๐งช Chemistry: Matter and Reactions
States of Matter
All matter exists in one of three main states:
Solid
Particles are tightly packed and vibrate in place.
Examples: Ice, wood, metal
Liquid
Particles are close but can slide past each other.
Examples: Water, oil, juice
Gas
Particles are spread apart and move freely.
Examples: Air, steam, helium
The Periodic Table
The periodic table organizes all known elements by their properties. Click on an element to learn more!
Chemical Reactions
A chemical reaction occurs when substances combine or break apart to form new substances.
Photosynthesis
Carbon Dioxide + Water โ Glucose + Oxygen
Plants use sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into sugar and oxygen!
๐งฌ Biology: Life and Living Things
The Cell: Building Block of Life
All living things are made of cells. There are two main types:
๐ฆ Prokaryotic Cells
- No nucleus
- Simple structure
- Bacteria are prokaryotes
๐ฌ Eukaryotic Cells
- Has a nucleus
- Complex organelles
- Animals, plants, fungi
Cell Organelles
Each part of a cell has a specific job, like workers in a factory. Click to explore!
Nucleus
The "brain" - contains DNA and controls the cell
Mitochondria
The "powerhouse" - produces energy (ATP)
Ribosomes
The "factory" - makes proteins
Endoplasmic Reticulum
The "highway" - transports materials
DNA: The Code of Life
DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) is the molecule that carries genetic information.
Key Facts:
- Shaped like a twisted ladder (double helix)
- Made of 4 bases: A, T, G, C
- A pairs with T, G pairs with C
- Contains instructions for making proteins
